Human Design: Honoring what lights you up

That sweet feeling of inner joy Your whole being starts to feel lighter and brighter. It’s as if your soul is telling you YES,  this is what I have been wanting. Through my learning with human design I have really started to step deeper into this deep internal knowing. I know for myself what is a “full body yes,” and an absolute “No.” It feels as if our bodies act as our own individual compasses, having their own intelligence…and speaking to us in the most subtle of ways. When we start to listen we realize what is true for us. How do we listen to the body? First we must be aware and practice awareness throughout our day so that we can tune into the body and all the sensations that we experience. To do this, we have to get quiet and “withdraw” our senses.  One way of settling into this is through meditation or just sitting and watching the breath (still this is meditation). Your eyes are closed so you are not seeing your …

Radiant Body Oil ☀️ Hello, Radiant Body Oil. A new small batch face and body oil to nourish your cells. If you are interested in purchasing, you can buy from my Etsy Shop. Discovering the use of oil on the skin has been transformative. I feel like I am actually nourishing my skin instead of drying it out and adding tons of chemicals which are often found in many conventional beauty products. If there is anything you should take away from this article, it’s that we don’t need nearly as much as we think we do. Whatever your philosophy of life, the nervous system is your only means of connecting and interacting with your world. If you treat your nervous system like the sensitive system it is, it will play back the finest music to enrich your being. Choosing to be Healthy

The pillars of health are something that we can influence Choosing to be healthy: We can make conscious decisions to affect our health and over all wellbeing. And we have the right to take our health into our own hands, and yes regardless of our genetics, what you have done in the past, and what you have been brought up to believe. Just because our parents become sick from this that and the other thing or, “oh this runs in my family…” It doesn’t mean it’s your fate, neuroplasticity is tellings us that when we change our environment, aka the things we do with our time, our surroundings, the food we eat, and everything that we have control over, we can change the expression of our genes. AMAZING! I have been on a health journey for the past 5 years + and it’s been such a beautiful experience. Knowing that I am in control of my health Health is created on the foundation of many things…the sum of all parts of ourselves and we can …

Wake Up and Hydrate

#hydrochamp Hydration is so important for all the major functions of our beautiful bodies.  Water is life. The first thing we drink waking up can have a great impact on our overall health and wellbeing. So instead of grabbing that cup of joe or even cacao…make sure you hydrate your body first. This will help you have regular elimination which is so important. We should be going #2 at least 1 time per day. If you are not able to go, then you need to eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains if you body can handle them. Try to avoid dairy as it can be anti-inflammatory and can cause diarrhea for some people. Instead try to eat dairy as a special treat and at the highest quality you can afford.  Just a reminder…our bodies are 70% water…just like our beautiful planet…70% water…pretty incredible. Water is life   My new approach to hydration 💧 Step 1-Use a tongue scraper (ancient Ayurvedic approach to overall health, cleaning all the bacteria from the tongue) Check out package …

Our Favorite Hiking 🥾 Snacks

Hello Healthy hiking snacks 👋 When you are on the trail you should always bring some tasty snacks to help sustain your body. Your body needs fuel and wants to be fed…clean. Clean ingredients so it can thrive and carry you on the trail.   I always have my day pack ready with a protein bar just in case I do an impromptu hike but I typically like to plan my snacks ahead, especially for longer hikes. These are a few of our favorite things 💧 🌺 Chia Gel Drink This one is great…hydrating and full of Omega 3s, which are so nourishing and anti-inflammatory. Chia is a great way to balance our Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio. It’s ideal to strive for a 1:1 ratio of 3’s:6’s, but our modern diet is all about those Omega 6’s. But then Mama chia came along to save the day. This amazingly refreshing drink is great for hikes and long days in the sun.  I use an old GT’s kombucha bottle for this. You will need… …

Ways you can connect with Nature

How can we connect deeper with the Nature? There are so many ways we can connect with the Earth. Something I have been reflecting on a lot after our Smokey Mountains National Park road trip. Connecting with nature feels so good. It rejuvenates us and fills us with a remembering of our own inner light. I always knew being in nature felt good and I know there is so much scientific evidence to support that, buy my heart tells me…of course it feels good. Some ways we can connect to the Earth 🌏 ✅ Go for a sunrise / sunset 🌅 walk There is a lot of research that suggests that sunsets and sunrises help attune our hormones to our natural mammalian rhythms. We have been evolving for a very long time to see the colors of the sky in the morning and night. Getting fresh air is so good for you and really keeps your being in check. The sun’s light signals when it’s time to wake and when it’s time to sleep. A …

Hiking in my Xero Z-Trail Ev Sandals

Why I love hiking in my Xero’s Comfort 💜 They are super comfortable, each strap fits very gently and comfortably on the foot. Even after a long day of hiking and my feet are feeling tired, I look forward to putting them on again in the morning. They allow my feet to breath and take in all the good nutrients that the earth provides for us. Toe Splay 🦶 The toes are allowed to spread as nature intended. Think about how cramped your feet get when you wear regular tennis shoes, joggers, etc. Our feet are meant to splay and to engage in the environment.   Thin Soles 🌎 The soles are thin and allow you to receive biofeedback from your environment. When we wear thick padded shoes we are getting a “false” sense of what’s really there. These shoes really help me understand my environment and I firmly believe they have contributed to my over all foot strength and mobility of my ankle. The foot is so so complicated and beautiful. It literally holds …

Inspiration from the Trail, Why Moving Matters

I just wanted to share a story quickly about an experience from last fall. My husband and I were hiking through the smoky mountain national park and really excited about our journey, the leaves were just starting to change and the crisp fall air was coming in and everything was just looking so beautiful. We started hiking early in the day and ended up passing a man along the way from the opposite direction. We all stopped and just kind of exchanged information about how we felt in that moment. We were all feeling so high and so happy, just being immersed in nature. It was a beautiful fall day with the sun shining through the canopy of color leaves. This other man was feeling this way as well so it was a really beautiful connection. He was beaming with light. He started sharing a little bit about his life and how he was just wrapping up a 8 mile hike. No big deal. My husband and I were really supporting, he was about …

Grounding with our Great Mother

I wanted to share a little bit about the concept of grounding and connecting with mother Earth. Now that it’s finally getting nice enough outside here in Michigan I am more than excited to put my toes in the dirt and feel all the different textures that the planet has to offer. I spent the whole day barefoot in the garden absorbing all the offerings of the land I live on and wanted to encourage you to find some time to absorb the earth through your feet. We don’t think about it often but we create a barrier between ourselves and the planet in so many different ways, further disconnecting ourselves from nature. We have been conditioned to constantly consume to “fit in,” by culture, society, marketing for big brands, celebrity + beauty culture etc to further distance ourselves from the natural world. Often our shoes are pointed and have thick rubber soles. Which means are toes are crammed, and we are not connecting to the planet the way we evolved to. The mechanics of …
