A new spring meditation for you

Hello Open Hearts Club friends, I wanted to take a moment to share my first meditation 🧘‍♀️. As many of you know I just completed my Yoga Teacher Training with Detroit Yoga Lab and I am ripe with ideas on how to serve and lift others. The best thing we can do right now is keep raising our own vibration, trust in our own inner light and lead with love.   I hope you enjoy and please let me know how your experience was sending you all the love you need today! Meditation starts at 1:28 second   In collaboration with my extremely talented and loving husband (video)

Yoga Asana, Twisting into Revolved Chair Pose, Parivrtta Utkatasana

Feeling into the strength of the body, my quads awaken, noticing their own ability. Their power. The grace of the twist is intentional and love centered as the heart space shines up towards the beautiful sun. For this asana, you start in chair pose, Utkatasana, feet are hip distance apart, sitting back into your seat, knees strong and bending as your hips sink back, axial extension through the spine as you twist from the thoracic and connect your opposite elbow to the opposite knee. And don’t forget to breathe and move your beautiful energy around. Settling into Parivrtta Utkatasana Revolving the body in space while feeling into the strength of the legs. This is a beautiful pose to find your self in and to feel fully into the body. It allows our spinal column to express itself outside of the normal motions of forward and backward. To twist is to wring out tension that settles along the central nervous system, our side body, and hips. Revolved chair pose feels both vulnerable and strong. …

Morning Routine, Honoring the Beautiful Stillness

The ambrosial hours when the world is a little more still, allowing us to gently ease into the day. Our brains are in a slower brain wave pattern as we are just coming from sleep, making our subconscious more receptive and permeable. There is less stimulation so we can more readily drop into our personal self study. We must make conscious efforts to honor that stillness by not immediately tapping into the pleasure reward cycle of dopamine.   Consciously choosing to start the day in a defined way…with intention and love for the self. We can choose to honor these hours as Sacred space instead of getting caught up in the masculine swirl of energy that is so prominent in the western world. The masculine energy is something we all have embodied in our soul and it serves it’s purpose. I’m learning to value the balance of our inner dual energies, the sacred masculine and feminine, for they both contribute to our wellbeing. The feminine energy is nurturing, attentive and filled with curiosity…more about …

My Journey with Meditation

They say that showing up is the hardest part, especially in our “busy” world. Today I showed up with a candle and fixed my gaze upon the gentle organic shape of the flame. Pure, gentle beauty. My eyes and mind transfixed on the simplicity of it all. My inner mind whispers, Thank you for showing up today. I typically don’t use a candle when I meditate, but I had just received my Michigan made beeswax candle and used them last night for my full moon ceremony. It felt only right to continue to honor that flame. It was warm and inviting, which means a lot in a Michigan winter. I have been contemplating the space that fire holds, as it’s been a constant companion in my Cacao Ceremonies over the past few months. honoring the flame that transmutes, shifts energy, burning away the things that no longer serve. The fire lives with in all of us, and we live in the fire. The eternal flame of light. We are made of the elements.   Nothing …

Dream world program

My Experience with The Dream World Program

Use the Code Jen10 to save 10% I wanted to take a moment to share about The Dream World Program taught by Sapara Nation elder, Manari Ushigua and Jessica Scheer Welcome to Makihaunu, the connection and bridge between material world & spirit world, where we get our answers, dream world   I have always loved dreams and felt that they had significance in my life. I have had several dreams in my life that have come true and felt a true bliss in those rare moments of lucid dreaming, which I am able to connect to more often these days. I have always loved the way dreams awaken a different part of the soul, the consciousness. How they seem to tap into something deeper than what we are able to conceive. My dreams have always been an indication of where I am at. They mirror to me what I am thinking about, what’s linger in my thought patterns and subconscious mind.   They hold significance in our lives and it is one of the many …

Yoga Asana, Leaning into Goddess Pose

Goddess pose has quickly become a favorite for me in my yoga journey.   I feel powerful and beautiful at the same time. It is like an awakening of a deeper self. The onion layers of the self, open and unraveling. Here I am, this is me. I am beautiful.   For this asana, you are standing with your feet wide legged and toes pointing at a diagonal. Opening up into the body.   You then bend your knees and allow your pelvis to sit deeper as you knees track over your toes, getting into a comfortable low squat. The hips are externally rotated with toes pointing outward. The front body is exposed.   Vulnerability + a beautiful strength.     The arms lift outwards to the sides and bend at a 90 degree angle, “cactus arms” as they are sometimes called. The fingers are in the sacred Gyan Mudra, the mudra or seal of knowledge, with index and thumbs together. Creating a circuit with in the sacred body.   Welcome to  Goddess Pose Utkata …

enjoy winter with ease

Some practical tips for enjoying winter 1. Dress the part When you engage in nature you will often find yourself rewarded by her beauty. Whether it be a sunrise, sunset, spotting a hawk, owl, or eagle. Nature is always blessing us with gifts. We feel whole when we are in nature, we feel happy and we feel the sense of connection. Do your sweet self a favor and find yourself in the cold slumber of winter. And of course the basics… Warm coatHatScarf or wool neck gaiterGloves Sunglasses Dress in layers, you build warmth through the air between layers, pretty cool, right 😀 I like to wear a pair of leggings or my smart wool base layer. Followed by my lined Carhart pants (I have had these for many years and they are really serving their purpose) Work with what you have and make note of what works and what doesn’t. I’ll wear a wool underlayer (synthetic or wool are best if you plan to be active in the winter) On top of my wool …

connecting to the spirit of winter

Leaning into winter   It has been a process and it’s not always comfortable, but wow is it a beautiful way to pass the time as the sun sets early and we find ourselves spending much more time indoors. Being in the cold makes you feel alive. The cool air permeating your earth suit. You are immediately taken into awareness. You feel the cold in so many different ways and they’re all lovely, making you appreciate your home and it’s levels of “comfort” even more. As an avid nature love, I had always waited in anticipation for the spring…leading into summer and the fall. Three seasons I have always easily loved. Winter has it’s own sense of wonder. As a native Michigander, winter has been part of my life since my first year of life on this wondrous planet. I was born in the spring so I always said spring was my favorite season, the season I was born into, just after the start of spring on March 22.   Bursting with life, just …

re-thinking beauty

Our body is a beautiful temple and we should treat it just as that. There is a lot of noise out there telling us we need this, that and the other thing, or we are not “desirable” unless we are absolutely youthful and free of “blemishes” and imperfections, the list goes on and on. We are beautiful exactly as we are. We’ve only been conditioned to think otherwise. Maybe by society at large, by experiences, by parents, by the media, etc. It’s time to shed that skin (letting go of the old paradigm) because the most beautiful thing we can do for ourselves is to love ourselves. Self care doesn’t mean purchasing tons of things and buying this product by this Celebrity or Influencer. We are so much more than that, and if you are here, you might believe the same thing. In my opinion, when we simplify, we make our lives so so so much easier. We learn to let go. We let go of stories. We let go of wasting time on …
