Choosing to be Healthy

The pillars of health are something that we can influence Choosing to be healthy: We can make conscious decisions to affect our health and over all wellbeing. And we have the right to take our health into our own hands, and yes regardless of our genetics, what you have done in the past, and what you have been brought up to believe. Just because our parents become sick from this that and the other thing or, “oh this runs in my family…” It doesn’t mean it’s your fate, neuroplasticity is tellings us that when we change our environment, aka the things we do with our time, our surroundings, the food we eat, and everything that we have control over, we can change the expression of our genes. AMAZING! I have been on a health journey for the past 5 years + and it’s been such a beautiful experience. Knowing that I am in control of my health Health is created on the foundation of many things…the sum of all parts of ourselves and we can …

Wake Up and Hydrate

#hydrochamp Hydration is so important for all the major functions of our beautiful bodies.  Water is life. The first thing we drink waking up can have a great impact on our overall health and wellbeing. So instead of grabbing that cup of joe or even cacao…make sure you hydrate your body first. This will help you have regular elimination which is so important. We should be going #2 at least 1 time per day. If you are not able to go, then you need to eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains if you body can handle them. Try to avoid dairy as it can be anti-inflammatory and can cause diarrhea for some people. Instead try to eat dairy as a special treat and at the highest quality you can afford.  Just a reminder…our bodies are 70% water…just like our beautiful planet…70% water…pretty incredible. Water is life   My new approach to hydration 💧 Step 1-Use a tongue scraper (ancient Ayurvedic approach to overall health, cleaning all the bacteria from the tongue) Check out package …

Nourish bowls as my go to meal for health + a little herb love

Nourish bowls…Buddha bowls 🥣…super amazing  bowls filled with nutritious and health filled goodies, with a rainbow of colors, tastes and more ☀️   Your body really is a temple and what we eat matters   I love making nourish bowls, these because they’re easy and help me meal prep. I typically cook a big batch of everything and then put into smaller pyrex containers for the first 3 days of the week. That way I only have a few finishing touches to make sure the meal is aligned with what I my body needs that day.      They’re as simple as… 🍚 base of grains/ seeds, I use organic quinoa like 95% of the time, it’s easy, my body likes it and it tastes great. I usually eat 1/3-1/2 cup. You can bulk prep this on Sunday or Monday to make your life even sweeter.   🥬 greens and beans, I like to cook a batch of beans (kidney, black, black eyed peas, chickpeas, I call this my “bean of the week” with onion and …

Leaning into Yoga

I have been on my Yoga journey for a small period of my life but it has transformed me beyond my own recognition of myself. It was knocking at my spiritual door for many years and it was only recently that I decided to open that door and let that reconnecting with spirit in. This past summer, I decided to to delve into Yoga Teacher Training with Detroit Yoga Lab.   This was actually the same studio I took my first real yoga class from.   Let me take you back, I was a graduate student at Wayne State in the Fine Arts Department and my room mate invited me to sign up for a week of yoga. It was a great move for me at that period of my life and left a strong imprint in my memory. calm peacefulness noticing my body in space and time realizing that the body needs to be respected I felt so rested that I fell asleep during the class. As someone who has always been a high …
